Ever since I found Lianne La Havas in 2011, I’ve been HOOKED. She has since then become my favorite artist and vocalist. The 25-year-old songstress was born in London, England to a Greek father, and a Jamaican mother. Being from and living in England, she obviously didn’t start out very popular in the states, but as time has gone on, she’s become increasingly popular with both younger and older audiences. Personally, my love for her begins with her sultry voice. The calmness of it in her more dulcet tracks (such as “No Room For Doubt” and “Lost and Found“) is like honey being poured inside of my ears. Her seamless vibrato is enchanting. Not to mention, she really knows how to pull you in and make you feel. Her more upbeat tracks (like (“Is Your Love Big Enough?” and “Au Cinéma“) will have you feeling like you’re in an old-school drop-top, driving down an empty road with your hair kissing the wind.
Lianne has not only slayed her own songs, but has covered and brought her peculiar flair (that I love so much) to the tracks of other artists, my personal favorites being her cover of Rihanna’s “Only Girl in the World” and Little Dragon’s “Twice“.
Check out her website to get her last album, and watch one of my favorite songs from her below. Also, sound off and let me what you think of Lianne in the comments!
