Top 10 Favorite Songs

I’m going to share my top ten favorite songs (in no particular order) right now with you guys. I’ve planned to make a habit of doing these, since my favorites change fairly often. I hope you guys take a listen and become as fond of these tracks as I am. Don’t forget to comment below and tell me what your favorite songs currently are!

  1. “Perfect” by BJ The Chicago Kid – This song has grown on me so heavily, because of what it symbolizes to me personally. I’ve dealt with some past insecurities in not feeling slim enough in certain areas, in comparison to my boyfriend who is slim, and naturally, um…carved I guess you can say. This song beautifully depicts how he makes me feel through my “moments” and anytime outside of them: perfect. He 100% loves how I am, whether I’m a little slimmer, or gained some extra stress weight, he loves it, and this song reminds me of that and makes me love my “thickness” even more. (Disclaimer: There is some mild content as it pertains to nudity on the video. Not much, but still…just a warning)
  2. “Sobriety” by SZA – I can relate to certain aspects of this song so much, even though I know I haven’t gone through exactly what she’s gone through. I love it, because it’s kind of my ‘me, myself, and I’ song. I feel like I can be allowed to have down moments and not feel like I’m inhuman because of it. “Sobreity” makes me feel like I can forgive, let things go, and give myself a fresh start.
  3. “Cold Outside” by Ari Lennox – This song really just makes you wanna call “bae” over (it’s what the song suggests after all *insert eye emoji*). It’s so mellow; a song you can visualize yourself dancing to alone in your undies and socks with a drink in hand.
  4. “Memrise” by Frank Ocean – I’m so excited that Frank is coming back that I probably boosted this song from the start. I like it a lot, though. I can appreciate the meaning behind it, and it reminds me of my somewhat “long distance” relationship.
  5. “Yuengling” by Ari Lennox – I absolutely love the vibe of this track. I wasn’t even sure of what her lyrics were at first, but that beat, though…her syncopation to the music “gave me life”, too.
  6. “Twice” (Cover) by Lianne La Havas – I love any track or cover Lianne does, honestly. On top of her just point blank being my favorite vocalist, her voice is absolutely entrancing on this cover. I was immediately in love from my first listen months ago. She never disappoints!
  7. “Backseat” by Ari Lennox – I love this song for the old-school feel, and the lyrics are so fun. I just want to whip my fro back and forth, turn up the volume, and cruise with the sunroof up on this track.
  8. “7/11” by Beyonce – The video. That’s all you need to know…oh, and “don’t you drop that alcohol.”
  9. “One In A Million” by BJ The Chicago Kid – I think this song put a classic, home-grown, sexy twist on a song we all know and love. This is somewhat of a cover to the late Aaliyah’s “One In A Million”. I say somewhat because he added his own lyrics half-way into the song. I honestly got chills once I pressed the play button. Take a listen for yourself.
  10. “FML” by Ari Lennox – In the song, Ari is pretty much bragging on her man, and sharing her woes of how she feel when he can’t stay the night. Being in a semi-LDR and having an awesome boyfriend…well, I can totally relate, so there you go. Also, if you were wondering by now, there’s so many Ari songs on the list because she’s amazing, and her songs give me the neo-soul vibe that I’m often naturally drawn to.
